Just some of the few flowers for Ruth as she was laid to rest today.  

Being your friend, Heidi, meant having the pleasure of knowing and visiting with your parents over the years  (decades!) since 1987 when we met.  I especially remember Ruth always having a smile and a fun, cheerful  joie de vive!  I am sorry  that her time to join the angels has finally come, and wish you and your family loving memories of her in every sunbeam you see that will remind you of her smiles.  I did find a very sweet photo memory of that special Israel trip to include . . . .Sunset at Tel Aviv , April 1995 . . . .  Shalom to you, dear friend.

A few memories of my mother, Ruth E. Andrion:
•	Stories of “the war." Despite the difficult era, she only spoke of the happy times. One I particularly remember is the fun that they had with their friends at Billy Rose’s Diamond Horseshoe, a WWII era nightclub in Times Square. I can see the big smile she had on her face when she would tell the stories. A few years ago, I found a Vanity Fair article about the space re-opening, and she squealed with delight.
•	Bel Air, MD, where they settled after the war. Summers filled with gardening and golf. Fantastic parties with their friends, with Mom  always “dressed to the 9s.” Family occasions often involved eating steamed crabs, Maryland style, laid out on newspaper and with plenty of beer. 
•	Wildwood, NJ. We spent nearly a month every summer at the shore. Lazy days by the beach and the beginning of friendships that would last a lifetime.  
•	Travel. My parents didn’t travel much after the war, but a friend of mine organized a trip to Israel. I stepped onto a bus in Tel Aviv, and to my surprise, there they were. It was right before Easter, and she loved everything she saw, all the places that she had heard about growing up. She would tell the story of that trip nearly every time I saw her.  
•	Florida days. She spent over 40 years there. I can see Mom and her friend Ruth together; they were constant pals and confidants, playing golf, shopping, going out for brunch... those were very good days.
•	Her final years without Dad. She made the most of them. One of my fondest memories was Chris and I taking her to a stained-glass class. She had a blast, and created a masterpiece.   When we would visit, we also had a tradition, lunch at the Red Lobster.   We always ate the same thing, trout.  What I enjoyed the most was watching her sip a huge strawberry margarita,  and convince the waiter to let her take the rest home. 
•	I miss you Mom, but I will always have these, and many other memories, to remember you by. Rest in peace.




With deep condolences to the Andrion family. Ruth, I will miss our daily visits & talks. Ruth was a Classy lady, one I'll never forget. Sweet dreams & God speed.

I was saddened to read of  your mother’s death in the paper today. Although I never met her, you and I talked often during my appointments about caring for our elderly parents.
