Arthur Gamble Jr.

Mr. Gamble was born in Quitman, Georgia on March 11, 1939, son of the late Arthur Gamble, Sr. and Florence Bess Gamble. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Quitman, Georgia and graduated from Albany State College where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. While attending Albany State he was a member of the football team that had an undefeated record and was never scored on in 1960. Immediately following college graduation, he was drafted by the United States Army where he proudly served for two years. Following the US Army, he returned to Booker T. Washington High School where he taught Physical Education, Driver’s Education and was a football and basketball coach. In August 1993, he and his wife Barbara moved to Brunswick County, North Carolina where he worked with Brunswick County Schools as a school resource officer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Elise Gamble and a sister, Betty Brooks.

His love and memories will remain in the hearts of his wife, Barbara Gamble of the home; children, Art Gamble of Shallotte, North Carolina, Dwayne Gamble of Foley, Alabama, Harold “Chris” Gamble and wife Robynn of Commerce Township, Michigan, Penelope “Pennye” Gamble of Castle Hayne, North Carolina, Kelleigh Costello Gamble and wife Kimekia of Birmingham, Alabama, Fred Watts of Atlanta, Georgia, and Alfie Christian of Quitman, Georgia; grandchildren, Ana Elise Gamble, Corry Gamble, Mikinzi Allen, Christopher Gamble, Jr., Nia Diamond Gamble, Julian Wilson and wife, Arianna Wilson, Kymberli Gamble, Alex Gamble, and Jake Watts; great grandchildren, Jimmy, Vinny, and Indera; and a sister, Barbara Taborn of Valdosta, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 29, 2025 from four o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening and Saturday, August 30, 2025, from nine o'clock in the morning until 11:30 followed by sharing memories until twelve noon. A repass will take place from 12:30 until 4pm. at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
