Jeremy "Pork Chop" Thomas Long

Jeremy was born September 30, 1980 in Supply, NC to Rita Long Sellers and the late Thomas Dale Long. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James Michael Thomas and Deane Cofer Thomas; paternal grandparents Dewey Thomas Long and Sarah (Jettie) Cribb Long.

Pork Chop was a good man with a good heart that you couldn’t help but love. He had a personality that made it easy for him to make friends everywhere he went. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need and asked for nothing in return. He was loved by all and will truly be missed.

Jeremy enjoyed being outdoors and spent many years working jobs such as farming and dredging that allowed him to do just that. He worked many years for Brunswick County Public Utilities and also worked for White Funeral Home and Cremations Service. He was a member of Shallotte Lodge #727 A.F. & A.M. and was also former Chapter President of the NWTF Brunswick County Longbeards.

Survivors include his sons Thomas Drake Long and Lucas Avery Long of Shallotte; wife Kelley Tanner of Florence, SC; stepchildren Alex Allen and Kalice Keith of Florence, SC; stepfather Lewis Sellers of Lake Waccamaw; sister Jennifer Long Green (Eric) of Lake Waccamaw; stepsister Shannon Sellers Sluyter (Alex) of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt Carolyn Roberson and uncle Ray Thomas of Williamston, NC

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Wednesday April 27, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon at the Ward Cemetery in Longwood with Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded by Shallotte Lodge #727 A.F.& A.M.

Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Joey Long, Dan Gurly, Bobby Faircloth, Eric Green, Keith Ludlum, Michael Quinn and Wade White.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from six o’clock until eight o’clock at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Brunswick Interagency Program/Brunswick Community College or Shriners Hospital.
