

He was born July 1, 1954, in Brooklyn NY to Shirley and Maxine Hammerl, both deceased. He married Sandra Gayle Nash on August 21, 1976, in Orlando FL after graduating from Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska with a teaching degree.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, two children, James Hammerl and Stephanie Chavez, her spouse Carlos, and two grandchildren, Isabella and Nash Chavez.
As a child, he lived in several states, as his father was in the Navy. Vincent and Sandra lived in Emporia, Kansas for almost 33 years where he taught high school for a brief time before becoming a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. In Emporia, he became extremely active in the Knights of Columbus, holding many positions at the local and State level, and establishing a 4th Degree Assembly before the ultimate honor of Knight of the Year for the Kansas City Archdiocese.
He retired to Carolina Shores in 2011 after 30 years with the Postal Service. Golf, bowling, watching the University of Nebraska football games, New York Yankees games, New York Rangers games and BBQ were his passions.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 20, 2026, at ten o’clock in the morning at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church in Shallotte.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 19, 2026, from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte, North Carolina.
