Wayne Owens, 62, of Supply, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. Born in Franklin, NJ, Wayne made the journey south in 1983, settling in North Carolina, where he built a life full of dedication and kindness.
A humble truck driver, Wayne spent his days on the road, ensuring that others had what they needed. But beyond his profession, he was a man of immense generosity—someone who would literally give the shirt off his back to help another. His heart was always open, and his presence brought warmth and stability to those fortunate enough to know him.
Wayne was the devoted father of Stephanie Irwin, Trudie Van Horn, and Terence Van Horn, whom he cherished deeply. His love and guidance will forever remain in their hearts. He is now reunited with his predeceased loved ones: his father, Jack Owens (1992); his mother, Mildred Owens (2013); his guardians May and Arnold Baker; and his brother, Mitchell Owens (2023).
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Deborah Roll of West Virginia, Jeanette Thompson of Pennsylvania, and Kathleen Reilly of New Jersey, as well as his brothers, Michael Owens of New Jersey and Richard Owens of North Carolina. His siblings will carry his memory with them, remembering the strength and kindness he showed throughout his life.
Wayne Owens was a man of quiet integrity, unwavering love, and boundless generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will continue to honor his spirit and the values he held dear.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at a later date, where those who knew and loved him can gather to share stories, laughter, and honor the memory of a truly remarkable man.
Rest easy, Wayne. The road ahead is clear, and your journey home is one of peace.
