To my Uncle Rick. As a young girl, I remember your visit home after Marine boot camp. You were a lean mean fighting machine just beginning a life lead in service to your country, to your community, to your friends and most of all to your family. Fast forward to my early 20's when you had enough faith in me to cosign on my first car. The times you welcomed me into your home on my return visits home from California reminding me of my roots. Skyline just isn't the same without you there to greet us with your well-meaning, if not slightly sarcastic "so glad to see you, when will you be leaving" greeting - always said with love of course. The memories of your San Diego visits  - beach fires, margaritas, chicken wings, the Bee Gees and valley girl talk. You lead life by example. I will miss your clarity, your much needed black and white perspective, your sense of humor, you. Love you mean it, Uncle Rick. Like totally. RIP.

I am so very sorry to hear of Rick's passing.  He was a cherished friend through Wyoming Fire/EMS.  We all always knew that Rick had our back and we could count on him, both professionally and as a friend.  He loved his family dearly and we all shared many stories.  Thank you for sharing this wonderful guy with all of the rest of us.  It was a privilege to have known him.

Dear Debby, Rachael, Katy, Daniel, and MaKayla,

Judd and I are heartbroken about all the health and medical challenges Rick and you all have been through and so very sad about Rick's death. As Rick's former sister-in-law, I am remembering fondly having first met Rick when he was about 7 years old when I started dating his older brother, Tim, in high school!  That young boy certainly grew into a fine man, and I know you all will miss him dearly.  Wishing we could be with you for the funeral, but we know you will be surrounded and comforted by many of the Westmark and Hostiuck family members.

Deborah and family - We are so sorry for your loss. We had the privilege of knowing and working with Rick at the Wyoming Police Department. He was an exceptional police sergeant and our friend. His stories would keep us entertained for hours and his laugh was infectious.  His used his years of experience to mentor us younger officers and kept us safe. We also enjoyed his sense of humor over the years and the fun bantering. We are all better people for having been blessed with his friendship and the communities he served will be marked for years to come by his professional and selfless service. I was always so grateful to feel "adopted" by the Hostiuck family when I was a teenager and Ricky was one of the reasons. He was always kind and funny. He will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family as they mourn the passing of such a fine human being.

Rick gave me rides to the mall, took me to the lake, and fed me I don't know how many times. He also had the best fart jokes, and always made me feel like part of the family. I am so sorry for your loss.
