Engelbert Wensauer

Bert was born September 24, 1930 in Sheboygan to Engelbert A. and Leona (Leonard) Wensauer. He attended local schools and served his country in the US Army from January, 1952 to January, 1954, stationed in Korea. He earned 3 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, a Merit Unit Citation, and the Korean Service Ribbon.

On January 8, 1966 Bert and Patricia Ann Richards were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church.

For thirty four years Bert was employed at the Vollrath Co. primarily in the welding department, retiring in 1993.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and was a member of local Conservation Clubs. For many years he and Pat spent their weekends “up north” at their cottage.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheri Ann Wensauer-Rankin and Eric Steven Rankin of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Gavin Steven Rankin and Molly Ann Rankin; his sister, Deloris (Donald) Senkbeil of Sheboygan; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two sisters, Dorothy Wensauer Ruffalo and Lucille Wensauer Thimmig.

A Memorial Gathering in Bert’s honor will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Bert will always be remembered for his love of nature and the outdoors.
