Marvin loved and desired to serve his country during the 2nd World War but because of the nature of his work he was told he would be deferred from service for the duration of the war. So strong was Marvin’s desire to serve he quit his job and informed the selective service he had become a” bum” after which he was promptly allowed to enlist in the branch of his choice. Marvin chose the US Navy and served under Admiral Kincaid in the 7th Fleet as a gunners mate 1st Class in the South West Pacific Theater of War aboard the destroyer, USS Drayton. After Marvin’s naval service he returned to the United States and began selling securities in Nashville, Tennessee later returning to Sheboygan, Marvin became employed at the Hayssen Mfg Company as a machine builder where he remained for over 25 years until he retired in 1985.
Marvin loved the Lord and loved to sing the hymns of faith.
Marvin leaves behind three children; Melissa Cornell, Paul Gabrielse, and Aaron (Cherie) Gabrielse; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Kalk, Madeleine Verlare, and Louise VanKuiken; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
