Lawrence Wesley Cogan

Lawrence W. Cogan, of Harrisonburg, was called to his permanent home August 20. Also known as Larry or Wes, he was born October 1, 1924 in Alexandria, VA, the son of the late Allen Young and Margaret Louis Cogan.
At the age of 17, he joined the US Army on March 1, 1943. He was a combat vet during the Normandy Invasion and throughout the European Theatre and honorably discharged on October 20, 1945.
After returning home he met the love of his life, Janice Maxine Thompson, which he quickly made Janice Maxine Cogan. He liked dancing, hunting, fishing, and loved all his shelties which he spoiled.
He is survived by his only son, Alan W. Cogan and wife, Vickie, of Shenandoah, VA. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Allen Cogan.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 pm Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Culpeper National Cemetery.
