He was born on October 25, 1936, in Orillia, Ontario, Canada and was the son of the late Alphonse Eloi Mallette and Ella Mary (Parker) Mallette.
William lived his early life and was educated in Canada and attended LaSalle College. He enlisted in the United States Army where he made his career and retired in 1990 after 21 years of service. He was a member of the Holy Infant Catholic Church in Elkton and Post #0141 American Legion in Richmond. He made his home in Shenandoah in 1990.
On April 30, 1970, he married Ann Louise (Roberts) Mallette, who survives.
He is also survived by a son, Patrick Mallette and wife, Donna, of Ellicott, MD; a daughter, Jeanette Mallette and fiancé, Steve Cubbage, of Shenandoah; two stepsons, Ricky Roberts and Howard Roberts of Whiteford Town, MD; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Joseph Daniel Mallette; four brothers, Raymond, Gregory, Harold and Cyril Mallette, one sister, Helen Mallette; and a daughter in law, Kimberly Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at Noon, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Rev. Richard Roberts and Father Michael officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial at Quantico National Cemetery will be held at 11:30 am, Thursday, October 2, 2025.
