

Dirk Boyd “Mac” McCoy age 62 of Shepherdsville was born in Cincinnati Ohio, November 7, 1955. Mac returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother Nora Lyon McCoy; birth parents, Milton and Edna Prater; son, Eric G McCoy (Laura); an infant son, Lovell R. McCoy; He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 25 years, the former Alma Pottinger; loving daughters, Nora M and Linda M. McCoy of Shepherdsville, Stephanie King (Jeremy) of San Antonio, TX; son, Phillip A.B. McCoy (Stephanie) of Cincinnati, OH; siblings, Denise Prater (Cecil) of Hamilton, OH and Milton Prater of Cincinnati, OH; 5 grandchildren; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; also leaves behind numerous close friends and his daily four- legged companion, his pride and joy, Greta.
Dirk McCoy was a Master Mason for over 35 years: Past Master of Nahe Temple #866, Salt River Lodge F&AM #180 and Zoneton Lodge F&AM #964. Louisville Consistory of the Scottish Rite, Kosair Shriner, Kosair Shrine Provost Club, Pastor Worthy Patron of Mt. Washington Chapter #552 order of the Eastern Star, and Rainbow Board Member Mt. Washington Assembly #63 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls.
Republican representative for the Bullitt County Board of Elections and past Precinct Captain.
Past Commander of American Legion Post, member of Louisville Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Shepherdsville Lions Club, Mt. Washington Chapter of AARP, Past Post Advisor for Bullitt County Sheriff Explorer Post, Past Post Advisor of Jefferson County Sheriff Explorer Post and Past Post Advisor of Ft. Knox Military Police Explorer Post and Kentucky Colonel.
Retired from Military, United States Army as a Staff Sargent in the Military Police Corp and Metro Safe (911 Communications as a Supervisor)
Worked a host of other jobs throughout his lifetime including: Sergeant at the Louisville Fire Department in the Fire Alarm Office, Jefferson County Public School Security, Jefferson County Sheriff Office, Bullitt County Sheriffs Office, Clarksville, TN City Police Department, Ft. Campbell Fire Department, Corrections Officer for the Main Penitentiary in Nashville, TN, Human Resource Manager for Murray Guard, as well as numerous security companies. Mac attended Bethel United Methodist Church of Mt. Washington and was a member of First Christian Church of Taylorsville.
Funeral service will be conducted 12 noon on Friday in the chapel at Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service held at 6p.m. on Thursday and from 9a.m. until time of service on Friday at Hardy-Close Funeral Home.
