Homer Lee Nichols

   Homer L. Nichols, Sr., age 90 of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 with loving family by his side.  Homer was an Army Veteran and loved bowling, fishing and University of Kentucky basketball.  He was a great man and was loved by many.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cherie Nichols; sons, Gary Nichols and Buddy Nichols; parents, Homer and Mary Catherine Nichols; step-son, Robin Carroll and sister, Martha Bower.

   He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sherry Oakes (James); son, Terry Nichols (Belinda); daughters, Becky Heichelbech (Tom), Cathy Ellis (Jerry), Vicki Carroll and Kim Jones (Randall); 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

   Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street, Shepherdsville with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Shepherdsville.  Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020 and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Hardy-Close Funeral Home
