John D. Newton

   John Newton age 88, of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 8, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late John and Bessie Newton on Friday, June 29, 1934, in Campbellsville, KY. He loved watching western movies and Judge Judy. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog Lessie. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, whom each had a special name that Poppy John gave them. John will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

    In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lonzile, Henry, and Ansel, his sisters, Ruth, and Shirley.

   He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Hazel (Dockery) Newton; his sons, Timmy (Marissa), Steven (Carol), Keith, and Dennis (Kim); his daughter, Tonia (Joe); Twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; his brother Bill Newton (Jane); his devoted furry companion, Lessie, and a host of family and friends.

   Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 12 noon in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street, Shepherdsville with burial to follow at Mount Eden Cemetery. Family and friends can pay their respects on Thursday, from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Friday from 9 am until the time of service at 12 noon at Hardy-Close Funeral Home.
