Barbara J. (Wittenauer) Sipes

Barbara J. (Wittenauer) Sipes, age 82, of Mt. Washington passed away surrounded by her loved ones, Tuesday, March 7, 2023. She was born on December 27, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Joseph F. Wittenauer and Mary L (Peter) Wittenauer.

She is survived by her children, Gina Cissell (Bruce), James Sipes Jr. (Sheila), Victoria Sipes, Louann Vancelette, and Cassie Combs (Mike); siblings, Joe Wittenauer (Carol), Carol Ann Whatley, Bill Wittenauer (Candy), Mary Wigginton (John); 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her parents and spouse, James Ronald Sipes Sr.

Barbara worked for the Archdiocese for many years and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother that loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and family gatherings. Barbara was much loved and will be greatly missed.

The celebration of her life will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 10:00am on Saturday, March 11, 2023, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 12pm-8pm and Saturday from 9:00am until the service time at 10:00am.
