Barbara Jo Mitchell

Barbara Jo Hockenberry-Johnson-Mitchell, 66, passed away on August 11, 2018 at home after a long battle with cancer. Barbara graduated from Manuel High school, earned her Associates Degree, and retired from UPS where she worked for 30 years as a supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence (Joe) Hockenberry; step-father, William Ansel Bristow; grandparents Orabel and Dotson Howard; A.J. Hockenberry; step grandmother Eula Hockenberry; her 1st husband, Danny Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Danny Schuetter.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Rocky Alan Mitchell; daughter, Kimberly Hornung (Steve); son James Johnson (Shannon); sisters, Betty Schuetter and Beverly Coomer (Russell); grandchildren, Isabella, Mackenzie, Jackson, Savannah, Michaela, and Gavin; her mother, Analeta Bristow.

She also loved her pets, she had two beloved dogs that passed away, Sha Sha and Zeb, and one black cat that was always at her side, Ebony; and is survived by her two loving dogs Spiderman and Mary Jane.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood, & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday August 16, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
