Bernice Alynne “Bonnie” Chapman entered God’s glorious Kingdom on April 6, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 89. Born in Pierce, Kentucky, Bonnie was a cherished daughter, the fourth of six children born to her loving parents, Cova Edward Lyle and Nannie Irene Thompson Lyle, both of whom preceded her in death.
A beautiful chapter began when Bonnie met Clifton Chapman, and they married in 1953. A story of true love, her most cherished vocation in life was being an excellent wife to her beloved husband of 71 years, who passed on March 18, 2025. Together, they nurtured a family built on unwavering love. She was a truly wonderful mother to her surviving children: Danny Chapman (Becky), Kathy Chapman Sharp (Terry), and Andy Chapman (Denise).
The joy in Bonnie’s heart expanded immeasurably with the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being “Nana” to Rebekah Sharp, Danny Chapman II (Christina), Geoffrey Chapman, Weslee Chapman, and Jon Chapman (Makenzie) and great-grandchildren to Fox Lancaster Boyce and Jon Henry Chapman, brought her immense happiness and pride. She is also survived by one brother, Buddy E. Lyle, of Glasgow, KY.
Above all, Bonnie was a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ and she lived out her faith through her warmth and hospitality. She was a member of Thixton Lane Baptist Church and Parkland Baptist Church, and for many treasured years, she enjoyed fellowship and service at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 10, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, April 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:30 am at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, located at 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, KY, and followed by the interment at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that Bonnie is now reunited with her beloved Cliff in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of our Heavenly Father. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever live on in our hearts and lives.
