Charles H. Gilkey Sr.

Charles H. Gilkey Sr., age 77, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.  Charles was born in Bardstown, Kentucky on June 17, 1943 to the late Joseph and Mary Katherine “Aubry” Gilkey. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior Gilkey, Donnie Gilkey, and Billy Gilkey; and sister, Elizabeth Gilkey. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Diane Gilkey; children, Chuck Gilkey (Brandie) and Christopher Gilkey; grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaylee, Bailey, Jordan, Aidan, and Ethan; aunt Dorothy Gilkey; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Monday from 1pm until 8pm and on Tuesday from 10am until time of service at the funeral home.
