Donald Roy Barnett

Mr. Donald Roy Barnett, age 78, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Mr. Barnett was born in Louisville, KY on January 4, 1944 to the late Jack Cramer Barnett and Mabel Lee Craigmyle Barnett. He was a faithful member of Green Acres Baptist Church for 40 years and served in many positions of responsibility including sound engineer and treasurer. He was a computer specialist with General Electric for 45 years, was an avid UK fan and he loved to spend time with Inez on their many cruise vacations. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, his grandson, Benjamin Barnett; granddaughter, Katelyn Rayman and his sisters, Becky, Barbara and Donna preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of almost 49 years, Inez Barnett; children, Patrick Lee Barnett (Melissa), Trina Nilest (Tony), Mark Barnett (Dana) and Michael Rist (Karen); grandchildren, Joshua, Dylan (Jessie), Sean, Tyler, Kaitlyn (Jordan), Madison (Jake) and Andrew; 9 great- grandchildren; brothers, Jack Barnett (Teresa) and Bill George Barnett (Claudia); special friend who was like a brother to him, Buddy Nutt (Joyce) and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of his service at 2:30 at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be held privately at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Todd’s Point, Kentucky.
