

Edward grew up in Virginia Beach and graduated from Cox High School in 1981. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on May 7, 1985, and serving until March 2, 1992.
After his military service, Edward built a long and dedicated career with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 2024.
Edward had a deep love for the ocean and especially enjoyed surfing the beaches of Virginia Beach where he grew up. He was passionate about music, spending time playing his guitar and writing songs. He was a fan of alternative rock and a devoted supporter of the Washington Redskins. Edward also loved traveling the world and was never one to pass up a good plate of fried chicken. Above all, he cherished his family and the lifelong friendships he built over the years.
Edward is survived by his son, Benjamin Scott McCoy; Benjamin’s fiancée, Sara Spencer; and their daughter, Lily Mae McCoy. He is also survived by his granddaughters McKayla McCoy, Maddie McCoy, and Lily McCoy, as well as his brother, Raymond McCoy.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Irby.
Edward will be remembered for his love of music, his adventurous spirit, and the deep care he had for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
