

With great sadness the family of James M. Burney, 75, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky announce his passing on January 31, 2026. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and a great friend to many.
He loved testing his luck at the casino and fishing for catfish at Taylorsville lake. He enjoyed a cold beer, good company, and a good laugh. He retired from the Kentucky truck plant. He was also formerly the store manager for the Shepherdsville Key Market, sales at Stouts Building Center, route salesman for RC Cola and a member of Electrical workers 369.
He leaves behind his high school sweetheart Vicky. They were married for 56 years. His son James M. Burney Jr., his daughter Kimberly Martin (Paul), and a proud Poppity to his granddaughters Mckenzee Muenchen (Tim), Kameron Simoneit (David), and Kendall Martin. Plus his great grandchildren Maverick, Blair, and Easton. He is also survived by his sister Jeana Rosales (Severo), their daughter Felizia Rosales, his niece, and her children Alyias and Luka.
James “Butch” “Jim” Burney will be remembered for his love of gambling, boating, and his tall fish tales that he shared with family and friends.
