John Ellis Poiles

John Ellis Poiles, age 83, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 30, 2021.  He was born in McLean County, Kentucky on February 4, 1938, to the late John and Flora Ferguson Poiles. He was a manager at Southern States Coop and owner and manager of Louisville Tent and Awning, a member of Grace Community Baptist Church, a former deacon of Auburndale Baptist Church, an avid Louisville basketball fan as well as all sports, and an accomplished canasta player.

Mr. Poiles was preceded in death by his parents; Siblings William Poiles, Roger Poiles, Sue Ayer and Jane Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Anna “Sue” Poiles; sons, Jonathan Todd Poiles and Tony Glenn Poiles; grandchildren, Jonathan Poiles and Kathryn Rogers; siblings, Loretta augherty and Marie Adkins (Roy); an

adoring host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Ginger

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with entombment in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Friday, June 4, 2021,  from 5pm until 8 pm and on Saturday from 9am until time of service. Expression of sympathy may be made to Grace Community Baptist Church.
