Mary Augustine Underwood

Mrs. Mary Augustine Underwood, age 90, of Shepherdsville, KY returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born in McClain County, Kentucky on January 09, 1935, to the late Lester Beller and Augusta Beller “Atherton”. She was a devout Baptist and was a member of Eastern Gate Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Norton School of Nursing and retired as a Registered Nurse. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  Her family was the center of her universe. She radiated happiness, kindness, and compassion, touching the lives of everyone around her. She had a deep love for good food and great company — whether it was a favorite local diner or a new place in town, Mary never missed a chance to go out to eat and savor a good meal with friends and family. She brought laughter, warmth, and authenticity to every moment. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband since April 30, 1955, Glenn Franklin Underwood; her parents; brothers, William Presley Beller, James Roy Beller, Lester E. Beller, and Franklin Beller; sisters, Agnes Ann Strong and Helen Elizabeth Willis.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lynn Underwood and Debra Sue Underwood; grandchildren, Christopher O’Leary and Katie Lynn Billings (Sean); great-grandchildren, Kelsie Douthit and Liam Shane Holland; brother, David Beller (Doris); her nursing home family at Regency Nursing Home, along with many other family and friends.

Per Mrs. Mary Underwood’s wishes, the family has chosen direct cremation. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 4:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Eastern Gate Baptist Church (3699 N. Preston Hwy Shepherdsville, KY 40165). www.subfuneralhome.com
