Richard Long Hanna

Richard Long Hanna, age 92, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on September 18, 2023. He was retired from Army, Chief Warrant Officer, National Guard and of the Baptist faith. Richard was born in Shelby County, Kentucky on April 11, 1931, to the late James Price Hanna, Sr. and Stella Long Hanna.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jane Tipton; brother, James Price Hanna, Jr. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley Hanna; daughter, Debbie Givens (Doyle); two sons, Dennis Hanna (Pam) and Timothy Hanna; sisters, Betty Montfort, Nancy McIver (Jimmy) and Dot Hanna; grandchildren, Jennifer Richards (Pat), Shawn Field (Susanna), Stacy Pogue (Jackie), Taylor Drake (Nick), Kelly Goodlett (Seth) and Hannah Allen (Derek); great grandchildren, Madalyn Richards, Isabella Field. Charley Pogue, Laney Goodlett, Kaelyn Freudenthal, Kasen Freudenthal, Gregory Drake, Alanna Drake and Ruby Drake; and a host of other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Friday September 22, 2023, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Thursday from 2 pm until 8 pm and on Friday 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. Expression of Sympathy may be made to the DAV
