Allen Carey Atkins Sr., born on August 18, 1941 to the late Allen Nathaniel Atkins and Bessie Gamble Atkins, passed peacefully into the arms of Heaven on Saturday, November 22, 2025, surrounded by his family in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Allen was known as a strong, quiet, and steady presence — a man whose life was shaped by integrity, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.
He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1959. Allen worked for Crown Dental Studio for 50 years, where his precision and dedication earned the admiration of friends, coworkers, and clients. Away from work, he enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially his love for Nascar. Corvettes always had a special place in his heart and brought him great joy. His faith was evident in his humility and purpose as a devoted member of The Simple Church.
Allen was a devoted husband to his wife of 55 years, Linda Benfield Atkins, the love of his life and role model for his children and grandchildren, that he loved dearly. He now rejoins his beloved wife, Linda, in Heaven — a reunion his family knows he longed for. He is also reunited with his parents, and nephew, Gary Wayne McKaskle.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Brian Atkins and Allen Atkins; his sister, Janice Dean and husband Dave, who resides in Tennessee; his grandchildren, Chris Atkins, Corey Atkins, Michael Atkins, Hailey Atkins, Hope Atkins, Ryder Atkins and Peyton Riley; along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, on December 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue, beginning at 11:00 am.
