A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate the life of Betty Jane (Jergins) Schmidt at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am prior to the service.
Betty was born on October 5, 1944 in Silsbee, TX to Claude and Hazel Jergins. She worked at Shreveport Eye Clinic for 33 years, but her greatest roles and joys in life were being a mother and grandmother. Betty was an artist and incredible cook. She loved her Church family and leading bible study groups. She had an infectious laugh and made all who met her feel special and loved.
She was preceded in death by her brother, C.E. Jergins Jr.; and sister, Melinda Shafer.
Betty is survived by her brother, Richard Jergins; son, Edwin Schmidt IV; daughter, Christine Atkins; granddaughter, Brittany Garcia; grandson, Dalton Stoker Jr.; and several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank everyone who contributed to her Memorial Service as well as friends who visited and offered support during this difficult time.
