Billy Ray Clements, age 82, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2024. Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana to Frank and Bertha Clements, Billy was a man of quiet strength and deep kindness. He had a profound love for classic cars, with his 57 Chevy holding a special place in his heart. Though he was a quiet individual, his thoughtful words were always valued, and his gentle nature touched the lives of those around him.
Billy dedicated over 35 years of his life to his career as an optician, where he was known for his professionalism and dedication. His commitment to his work and his compassionate care for his clients were hallmarks of his long and successful career.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Lenora Clements; his daughter, Debra McKelvey (Kevin); his sister, Christine Atkinson; and his brother, George Clements. He was a proud grandfather to Chris McKelvey and a cherished great-grandfather to Landen, Ainsley, and Kenna McKelvey. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Clements; his sister, Lucille Keith; and his brothers, Sonny and Wayne Clements.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a graveside service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Park.
