Bobby N. Brooks was born May 27, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to the late William and Mary Brooks. He honorably served his country for two years in the United States Navy Reserve before active duty for four years in the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the military, he served his community as a Fireman for the Shreveport Fire Department and an officer in the Shreveport Police Department. He retired as an assistant director of the Shreveport Fire Prevention Bureau.
Bobby was instrumental in beginning the Shreveport Bomb Squad, a skilled arson investigator, where he lead many lecturers and instructed others, and was a certified expert witness. He used his years of advanced service to create a fire prevention consultant firm serving as owner and operator.
He was devoted to his community and a dedicated member of many organizations with the special intention of giving back to his city. Bobby was involved in the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years achieving 32 degree Master Mason, a past commander of the Shriners Legion of Honor, vice commander of the VFW post 10373, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Elks Lodge 122.
Bobby was a true outdoorsman. He especially loved being on the water, in particular, beach activities. He enjoyed fishing and boating. During his younger years, he loved dancing with his wife, Edrys. Together they traveled all over to dance. Most of all Bobby adored his family and treasured spending time with them.
Bobby went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in Bossier City, Louisiana at the age of 86. He is now reunited with his wife of 57 years, Edrys Brooks; daughter, Delinda Brooks, parents, and sister, Mary Elizabeth Shaw. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, David Kottenbrook and wife, Kathy; daughter, Danita Orr and husband, Bert; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara McGallagher and her family, Linda Morgan and her husband, Jerry and their family, and Carolyn Lowell and her husband, Bobby and their family; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A visitation for Bobby will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Brother Mark Bevel.
