Celebration of Life services for Bobby Douglas Spinks, 78, will be held 9:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in the Centuries Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Grabanski of Magnolia Baptist Church and Rev. Tim Whatley officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, Louisiana. The family will be receiving friends for visitation at Centuries from the hours of 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
Mr. Bobby Spinks was born December 28, 1932, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Ishmael Philemon and Levis Ruthy DuWayne McCain Spinks and was called to his heavenly resting place, June 13, 2011, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Spinks was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Coushatta, Louisiana. Mr. Bobby had a personal phrase that made him proud to share “I Know My Jesus”. He fought the good fight, he was always a loving man whom never met a stranger and kept the faith. Radio operator Cpl Chief Spinks served his grateful nation by joining the United States Army where he received a Metal of Conduct and a Metal for Expert Marksmanship. Mr. Bobby was an Industrial Painter with Beaird Company where he retired following thirty-nine years of dedicated employment. He will be remembered and that kind gentleman that loved his Jesus and spread the enlightenment of their relationship.
Mr. Spinks was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Hazel Peckham, his second wife; Jean Cox Spinks, and several siblings. Left to cherish Mr. Bobby’s memory and tell his stories will be his wife; Sandra Monroe Spinks, three daughters; Karen Jean “K.J.” Whatley and husband Tim, Babbi Spinks, and Bonnie Johnson and husband Gary, two step-children; Sandra Diane Perkins, and Joseph Ray Phillips, six siblings; Deward Spinks and wife Dell , Elmo “Donny” Spinks, Virginia Spinks, Harvey “Ski” and wife Louise, Joyce Calhoun and husband Jerry, and Jane Dunn and husband Buddy, five grandchildren; Chad, Melanie, Robert “Bobby” File, Amanda File LaCombe, Matthew Moore, and eleven step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and many great friends.
Honoring Mr. Bobby Spinks as pallbearers will be Chad File, Bobby File, Chris Calhoun, Jason LaComb, David Spinks, John Wayne Peace, and Bill Peace. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Moore, Austin Johnson, Ansley Johnson, Cody Reno, and Stephen Spinks.
