

Shreveport, LA—Bruce Dean Mayfield, 80, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Centuries Memorial Park, Mansfield Road. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Centuries Memorial with interment immediately following.
Bruce was born in Springfield, Missouri, on May 18, 1930, and moved to Shreveport with his family in 1936. He graduated from Fair Park High School, served in the Army, and followed his father in to the plumbing business. Bruce became the respected owner of American Plumbing Co., Inc. established in 1955. November 10, 1956, he married Laura Thomas and was a devoted husband for their 44 years together. Bruce was an avid golfer and long time member of East Ridge Country Club.
He was a proud father of “his boys”, a loyal friend, and a loving grandfather who attended every school and athletic event of his three grandchildren over the years and was very proud of each one.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Mayfield of Shreveport and all of his brothers and sisters: Argyle Torry, Jack Mayfield, Maxine Bracken and Rex Mayfield. He is survived by his son Bill Mayfield and wife Gayle Flowers, son Dean Mayfield and wife Denise and three grandchildren: Thomas, Kate and Zachary Mayfield. Many nephews and nieces including a close nephew Robert Bracken and wife Joan along with a loving companion Sue Carroll also mourn his loss.
Pallbearers will be: Bobby Cochran, Charles Dillman, Charles Glover, Leland Gwinn, Leo McDonald, James Williams and Thomas and Zachary Mayfield.
