

Mrs. Carolyn Flora Hynes , 86 passed away Wednesday, December 7th, after a brief illness. Carolyn was born in Shuqualak, MS on December 28, 1924 to Earnest and Lila Flora.
Preceded in death by her spouse, Samuel Floyd Hynes; parents Ernest and Lilla Flora; and brother, Ernest Gray Flora Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Harriet McClelland and husband Ricky, Carolyn Brian and husband Mike, and son Hunter Hynes and wife Debbie. The absolute love of her life was her five grandchildren; Joel Hynes, Tiffany Brian Clark, Chris Brian, Josh Brian, and Garrett Hynes.
Carolyn graduated from Belhaven College in Jackson, MS and was recognized by the American University and College “Who’s Who” for academic excellence. She was an English teacher in Mississippi for a few years before moving to Shreveport and meeting the love of her life, Samuel Floyd Hynes. They were married 58 years until he passed away earlier this year.
Mrs. Hynes loved her family, country, was an avid republican, and a loyal member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her grandchildren, watching movies, traveling and reading. She will be greatly missed and honored by all of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport from 12:45 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will follow celebrating the life of Carolyn; conducted by Reverend Conrad Edwards at 2:00 p.m.
The family expresses appreciation to her nurse Robyn Watkins and caregivers Jettie and Jonnifer Moore.
