David was raised in Shreveport and enlisted into the United States Army in 1974. Upon completion of his service, David traveled and lived in several states including Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and California. David ultimately returned to his home state where he remained a resident of Shreveport, Louisiana for many years.
David was known to his friends and family to be a kind, generous and compassionate guy with a love for arts, music and literature, a sharp sense of humor, a wealth of both useful and not so useful knowledge, a great respect for his country and fellow service members and his quiet, steady and unwavering presence in the lives of family and friends. David was a history buff and could outplay anyone in the best trivia game. He shared his knowledge of historical facts, his appreciation of music and his love of sports with several generations of his family. David was an avid fan and staunch supporter of many local and regional sports teams through the years. Back in the 90s you could find him out at the Captains’ game usually with one or more of his nephews in tow. David was always a supporter of LSU Football and the New Orleans Saints. He was the most loyal Shreveport Mudbugs fan from their start back in the early days to their return. On most Fridays, you could find him at the hockey game with his cousin Bruce, friends and family. Dave always had a ticket to share or a story to tell his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews over the years. He was also always there to support them in their athletic activities and events. David shared his vast knowledge of all genres of music with his younger siblings and then with their children. If you knew Dave there was a story in there somewhere about music, sports, military life history or some random fact he wanted to share. David's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
