He is survived by his two loving daughters, Debbie Trainer Howard (Mike) and Vicki Trainer Massey (Bill); five grandchildren, Shane Howard (Donna), Brooke Howard Beard (Clay), Nicole Massey Johnson (Colquitt), Peyton Massey (Nicole) and Blake Howard; three great-granddaughters; three great-great grandchildren; Brothers, Sam Barlow, and Doug Campbell; sister, Nancy Evans Mosley (Tommy); sister-in-law, Sybil Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Chuck was born in Neola, WV on October 28, 1932. After Graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Carswell AFB and also served in Korea. After an honorable discharge from the service, he worked for Halliburton before starting his first oil well perforation company, Trainer Surveys, Inc. at the age of 24. Several other companies followed. He was well known and respected as an Oilman, as well as an entrepreneur.
His love for horses led him to raise race horses—first quarter horses, then thoroughbreds when Louisiana Downs opened. This was a family hobby that he shared with Kathy and his kids. Chuck loved the restaurant business; having at one time two restaurants in Shreveport and later, one in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
He enjoyed his customers, and took pride in the dishes he served, especially his steaks. He loved entertaining. He loved his family and friends. He was a generous man who would help anyone in need that he could. He loved West Virginia and all his family there.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home for the love and care they gave to our daddy and “Big Daddy.”
