She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A stay at home mother of three children, she worked in her early married years and later at McCary’s Jewelers for a short time. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking, taking care of her grandchildren, but she especially enjoyed traveling. She accompanied husband on mission trips to Mexico, business trips to Canada, San Francisco, Boston and Europe. She made many trips to Europe, both in summer and winter.
She was the Christian leader of the family, leading her husband to Christ. He was baptized in 1954 and then lead all her family to church faithfully. She kept her home clean, comfortable, and decorated with great taste. She was a thinker, planner, ready to go and see a new place, find a new idea, or looking for a new present for someone.
She is survived by her husband Ray McCary, three children David McCary and his wife Carol, Susan Hackney and her husband David, and Lynn Thomas and her husband Ken, plus 9 grandchildren and 14 ½ great grandchildren.
A Visitation for Dot will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
