Glenda Emmons Whitehead Chisum, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on May 30, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 22, 1937, and lived a life full of love, faith, and devotion to those she cherished most.
Glenda will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her strength, and her unwavering faith. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the memories she made, and the love she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years, Jewel Whitehead; beloved son, Michael Glenn Whitehead; her parents, Fred Morice Emmons and Myrtis Edmiston McGee; brothers, Freddie Emmons, Dennis Emmons, Harold Culver, and Ben Whitehead.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted loving husband of 27 years, Reverend Joe Dale Chisum, son Michael Dale Chisum, and daughter Lucinda Chisum Farrington (Russ Farrington); daughter-in-law, Jean Ann Whitehead; grandchildren, Audrey Grace Farrington, Ruston Cole Farrington, Abram Jace Farrington, Lucy Tru Farrington, Forest Glen Whitehead (Whitney Whitehead), and Zachary Hart Whitehead; great grandchildren, Lucas Lee Whitehead, Micah Jewel Whitehead, and Laken Cole Whitehead; brother, Donald "Donnie" Ray Emmons (Elaine Emmons); sisters-in-law, Ruth Culver, Tallulah Furtney, Doris Whitehead, Karen Whitehead and Joyce Parker; along with 20 nieces and nephews, 9 great-nieces and great nephews.
A visitation for Glenda will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be John Johns, Tyler Johns, Brad Emmons, Gary Dickey, John McGaugh, Glynn Young, Matt Ramsey, Melvin Pierre, Forest Whitehead, and Zachary Whitehead along with honorary pallbearers, Audrey Farrington, Ruston Farrington, Abram Farrington and Lucy Farrington.
