Gordon was a hardworking man with a strong working ethic. He owned his own construction company in his early 20's. He then went to work for various contractors. After working in the construction industry he went to work as a machinist for Ellis Piston Rings. He was a true jack of all trades being talented, capable, and always willing to lend a hand. His hands-on nature and problem-solving mind made him not just skilled, but gifted.
Gordon found joy in the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish, spending many seasons at his deer lease in Mansfield until his health no longer allowed. His passion for tractors was unmatched, and he could often be found working on one in his free time. The decline of his health and the inability to do the things he loved was difficult for him, but the love of his family, especially his granddaughters Baylee and Ainsley, and his loyal lab Jake, gave him strength and purpose in his final years.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Walker; his stepdaughter, Shannon Allison (Tracy); his son, Chris Walker; his daughter, Wendy Deyoung Pickard; his brother, Joe Walker (Regina); and his grandchildren: Baylee Allison, Ainsley Allison, Tawni Elmore, Kyle Walker, and Travis Walker; and great granddaughter Penelope and his nieces Tiffany Henning, April Nester (Tommy), and Liz Perkins (Ric); and his beloved lab Jake and Max the Maltipoo who he tolerated; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Christy Parker; his parents, Johnnie and Lurline Walker; his in-laws Rosemary Buckliew and James Anders; and his brother Billy Walker (Sherry).
A Visitation for Gordon will be held Monday, July 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM.
The family extends special thanks to Ben and Elaine Wreyford, Brother Tommy Patton for their kindness and visits, and to the church class and Bible study group at Cypress Baptist Church for their prayers, love, and support.
Gordon was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
