Gwendolyn Ennis, born on June 8, 1940, in Saline, Louisiana, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 85. A resident of Keithville, Louisiana, Gwendolyn, affectionately known as Gwen, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.
Gwen was a dedicated bookkeeper, working full time into her 80s and then part time even after she was retired. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her love for her family and her personal interests.
Gwen loved all things Disney and visited The Mouse in Disney World dozens of times. She cherished lunch dates with her siblings and had a passion for reading, as well as watching The Food Network and The Gameshow Network. Most of all, she loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her whole heart. She put her all into being the best mother and Nana and was wildly successful at it.
Gwen is survived by her sons, Keith Brehmer (Dianne), Kevin Brehmer (Amy), and Michael Ennis (Melody); her daughter, Rhonda Ennis (Barbara Dean); her brother, Bruce Hennigan (Sherry); her sister, Sue Hammack (Wayne); and her grandchildren, Kristi Screws (Brandon), Erin Spears (Donny), Kasey Brehmer, Dustin Brehmer (Cathy), Corey Brehmer (Roxy), Nathan Brehmer (Jamie), Elizabeth "Bizzy" (Dee), Kienen Ennis, Brittany Jacobs, Loren Ennis, Hailey, Max Ennis, and Sarah Ennis. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Daniel Slayton and Lena Caskey Hennigan; her son, Ronald Ennis; her grandson, Kyler Jacobs; and her brother, Ronald Hennigan and his wife Gloria.
A visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Chapel, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location.
Special thanks to Bristol Hospice of Northwest Louisiana and the numerous doctors, nurses, and therapists that helped Gwen during her illness. A very special thank you to Dustin and Cathy Brehmer and their family who opened their home to Nana in her final days and took such amazing care of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Angels in Shreveport, Louisiana, who took such great care of Gwen's grandson, Kyler, during his lifetime and is now caring for her granddaughter, Kasey.
