

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Hamilton Ross, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Grace Community U.M.C., 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Pastor Juan Huertas and Pastor Richard Varner. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
Mr. Ross was born on November 8, 1935 in El Dorado, AR and passed away on November 2, 2015 at Willis Knighton Pierremont after a brief illness. Hamilton spent his early childhood in San Francisco, CA. After graduating high school in Arkansas as Valedictorian of his class, he attended Grambling State University, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical and Health Education. After college Hamilton was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He later began his career at Washington High School in Arkansas where he worked for many years. His career transitioned into him becoming a police officer for many years before ultimately returning to education which both led him to move to Shreveport, LA where he has resided for the past 40 years.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Hamilton are his wife of 53 years, Essie Willis Ross; son, Gerald Hamilton Ross; in-laws, Ruthel Ross (Oakland, CA) and Howard and Edna Willis (Grambling, LA). Mr. Ross is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Grace Community U.M.C., 9400 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, LA 71106.
