Keithville, La. – Funeral services to celebrate the life of Harold Ray Skyles, 72, will be at Calvary Baptist Church 9333 Linwood Ave, Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday December 23, at 10:00am. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mike Igo of Calvary Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. Burial will immediately follow at Centuries Memorial Cemetery 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday Evening December 22, from 5:00 pm-7:00pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA.
Harold Ray Skyles of Keithville, Louisiana left this earth to be with our Lord on December 18, 2016 at 10:20am after a 10-month battle with cancer. Harold was born March 15, 1944 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1962, went on to attend Northeast Louisiana University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1963. After serving our country in the Army, he returned home, and joined the Shreveport Fire Department in 1966 where he worked up through the ranks, until he retired as Assistant Chief after 33+ years in 1999. He loved Jesus and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years. He truly loved life, he loved his family, and he loved everyone he ever encountered. He thoroughly enjoyed the splendor of his Lords creation through hunting, fishing, golfing, and just sitting outside with his beloved wife of 39 years, Peggy.
Harold is preceded in death by his mother Ozie Snead and father, Henry Row Skyles. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Greene Skyles, sisters Barbara Crews and husband Mike, Dorothy Severence and husband Bob and their families. Also by his children, Mike Wood, Harold Rodney Skyles, wife, Katrina, Douglas Skyles, wife, Selena, Raleigh “Punkin” Wood, Michele Skyles, and Toni Skyles-Williams, husband, Jesse, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Harold was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, true friend and so much more to so many. He loved his family, his family loves him, and he will be dearly missed.
