John A. Scott

A Life Celebration Service to honor Mr. Scott will be held 2 PM, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Crosby will serve as officiant for the service. The family will receive guests from 1 PM until service time.

His parents Loice and Mary Grace welcomed John Allen Scott into this world on February 6, 1941 in a small hospital in Ringgold, LA. Known as an avid outdoorsman, he loved having a good time with the Cross Roads Deer Hunters. He was a loving husband, no better demonstrated than while caring for his “darlin” for the last year after her stroke. He was a devoted father, a faithful brother and a true friend. John was a hard worker and his handiwork was second to none. He made sure that if his name was associated with a project that it was “done right.” He retired from Beaird Industries in 2004 after 40 years as an estimator / manager. John was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Preceding Mr. Scott in death are his parents John Loice Scott and Mary Grace Pope Scott Abbott, son Steven Thomas Scott, brother Bob Scott and infant brother Steven. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Janice Collier Scott, his brothers Danny Scott (Dianne) and Tony Scott (Pat), sister-in-law Jeanette Grainger, brother-in-law Tom Collier (Charlotte), his four legged friend “lucky” and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
