

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Joyce Nelson Coyle, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Don Wilson. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Joyce was born on April 16, 1926 in Athens, TX to the late Jewel Wynn Nelson and John Nelson and passed away on December 28, 2013 in Shreveport, LA. After high school graduation Joyce met Bob Coyle, an Army Air Corps Soldier. They married in Oklahoma in 1944 and made their home in Bossier City where Bob was an air traffic controller. They eventually moved to Shreveport where Joyce became a lifetime mother and homemaker.
Joyce loved old movies and was known to have a slumber party with her lifelong friend, Lou Hanson, where they stayed up all night watching their favorites. She was fond of 1940’s Big Band Music as long as it was not too loud. Joyce loved her dogs. She was always willing to babysit her granddogs.
She was a long time member of Brookwood Baptist Church where she spent many hours volunteering. Joyce loved to travel and made many trips in the U.S. including a cruise to Alaska as well as, Ireland, England, Israel, Mexico and Canada, her favorite.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Coyle and sister, Sue Boehnke.
She is survived by three sons, Dan Coyle and wife Jo Beth of Highland Village, TX, Gary Coyle and wife Denise of Stonewall, LA and Steve Coyle and wife Elaine of Ruston, LA; one daughter, Janine Potter of McKinney, TX; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
