

Shreveport, LA: Services will be conducted at the Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA for Kensley (Ken) Stafin Stewart, 86 of Shreveport, on Saturday, August 5, 2017,11:00. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry Hodge of the University Church of Christ in Shreveport.
Ken entered into the end of life status, on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Willis Knighton North surrounded by his family.
He was born in the Heart of the Beautiful Coal Mining Mountains of southern West Virginia near the town of Nellis, on a cool Fall Morning on November 23, 1930; he has lived in the Shreveport area since 1979.
He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea during the "Forgotten War" for 1 1/2 years with the US Army Signal Corp. Some of his duty stations were Ft Knox, KY; Ft Monmouth, NJ; Camp Gordon, GA; Ft Lewis, WA; Camp Stoneman, CA and Ft Meade, MD.
Ken worked for General Motors Corporation in Columbus, OH, Warren, MI, Detroit, MI, and here in Shreveport. Retiring in 1987 after 34 1/2 Years.
He was a Member of the American Legion-Post #14; the Veterans Of Foreign Wars-Post
#7685; the Forty & Eight-Voiture #137; Korean War Veterans Association, Loyal Order Of Moose-Family Center, Lodge #2239, where he served as Governor, Administrator, Social Quarters Manager and many other Offices as well as Sports Chairman for the better part of 20 years; a serious Bowler and long time member of the ABC where he Bowled in the ABC/USBC Tournament for 25 straight years and; an avid Horseshoe Pitcher who was a member of the NHPA & LSHPA and who participated in many Horseshoe Pitching events in the ArkLaTex Area and was Secretary of the Shreveport Horseshoe Pitchers Association for 23 years. In 1997 he was instrumental in getting the 1st 6 Horseshoe Pitching Courts constructed at the Moose Lodge in Shreveport. In 2012 he was again instrumental in getting an additional 6 Horseshoe Pitching Courts constructed at the Moose Lodge. Ken traveled the country Pitching Horseshoes in 7 World Tournaments. In 1999, he was inducted into the Louisiana State Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association Hall of Fame, an Honor he truly cherished.
He is survived his Partner of 21 years, Nelda Jean Addison and her beloved family, his (3) Children, (5) Grandchildren and (2) Great-Grand children; Daughter Brenda K. Shackelford, her husband Arnold of Glen Arm, Maryland, and her sons Damon C. and Tyler S. (Vicki) Doebler; Daughter Belinda M. Jackson, her friend Chris Pulliman of Bossier City, and her daughter, Angela R. Jackson (fiancee, Max Moorehouse); and son Randy L. Wagg and friend Jennifer of Shreveport, LA and his children, Skyler L. and Randi L.; Son, Kensley S. Stewart II, his wife, Brenda C. of Tyler, TX and their daughter Elizabeth F. Campbell, her husband Vincent Campbell and step son Dylan Campbell of Irving, TX; Two Brothers; Frank Grubb (Glenna)of Irwin, PA; Glenn Grubb (Linda) of Middleburg, FL and; numerous Cousins, Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Chafin Stewart, Mother Brookie Perdue-Stewart-Grubb, his Step-father, Owen Grubb, Brother, Bob Grubb and his late wife and Mother of his Children, Geraldine F. (Geri) Stewart, who passed away in 1984.
Serving at pallbearers are William Fann, Gerald Sneary, William Tate, Randy Lee Wagg, Damon C Doebler, and SSG Tyler S. Doebler.
Honorary Pallbearers will be all the hundreds of Horseshoe Pitchers he has been associated with over the years.
Flowers are discouraged, a Donation to the Moose Charities Endowment Fund in his name, is requested.
The family would like to whole heartedly thank the staff of Willis Knighton North and Life Care Rehabilitation Hospital in Shreveport for the wonderful care their loved one received during his short illness prior to passing.
