Lonnie was a salvage technician at General Motors for 30 years. He served faithfully in the church for decades at Baptist Tabernacle and Calvary Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, bus ministry, children's ministry, sports ministries, evangelism and outreach, and anywhere else he was needed.
On Sunday, Daddy went before us to pave the way. All our lives he has consistently and intentionally gone before us and provided us with a trustworthy and loving leader who was willing to stand in the fire with us. He was always ready to lend a hand never expecting anything in return. He could fix anything "from the crack of dawn to a broken heart." Whether it was your car, a piece of jewelry, your relationship or a heavy heart, he was the one you called. The life he led and the love he gave to not just his wife and children, but so many others points us to Jesus and His character of unconditional love, sacrifice, mercy and grace. Because of Lonnie James Freeman, there are a whole host of Freemans who can now do the same thing for others in his honor and to the glory of Christ our Savior.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, David L. Freeman (Ole Papaw) and Patsy H. Freeman (Boo Boo).
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Beverly Freeman; sons, Jason Freeman (Diane), and Jared Freeman (Julie); daughters, Jennifer Willis (James), Jo Ann Beecher (Chris); son, Justin Freeman; grandchildren, Caden, Bailee, Madelyn, Riley, and Jeremiah Freeman, Kaleb Freeman, Lainey Presley, Chance Freeman, and Lydia Freeman, Landon Meshell and Joseph Willis, Joshua, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Olivia Beecher, Gwendelynn, Lillieanne, and Seth Freeman.
