On Friday, September 23, Lucy Hearron left this world and went to meet Jesus just days after her 80th birthday. Lucy battled Alzheimer’s disease the past 5 years and her home-going is a celebration.
Lucy Nell Joiner Hearron was born September 19th, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents Louie Mitchell Joiner Sr. and Alice Joiner and youngest son Cheston Ritch Hearron. She grew up in Cedar Grove and attended Atkins Elementary School and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1960. She went on to study education at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and graduated in 1964. She was voted Miss Northwestern in 1963-1964. She was head Cheerleader at NSU, a member of the sorority Tri-Sigma, Purple Jacket. She received her Graduate Degree in education from LSU in 1971. She taught math at Youree Drive Middle School from 1964-till retirement. She also worked as Real Estate agent for Century 21 Spigener after retirement from Caddo Parish. She attended Calvary Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church. She taught childrens Sunday school as well as leading womens’ Bible studies for over 30 years. She also led the church Bible Drill program as well as many summer vacation Bible schools. Because of her youngest son, Cheston, who was born with Down syndrome, she and other members of Calvary started a special-needs Sunday school class.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Ed Hearron. Brother “Mickey” Joiner and wife Cynthia. Sons Chan (April) and Chris (Sandy) Hearron. Grandchildren Haley, Landry, Harper, Caden and Hutson Hearron. Nieces Dr. Michelle Self, Dawn Anderson and Paige Moore, nephews Mitch Joiner and Michael Joiner.
Honoring Lucy as pallbearers will be Mitch Joiner, Michael Joiner, Caden Hearron, Hutson Hearron, Mitchell Joiner, Hunter Self.
