Mary Loretta Harris has had a brand new beginning. In the early hours on the morning of May 20, 2020, Mary gained her wings. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on July 14, 1939 in Marthaville, LA to Lillie Almetia Evitt and Leo Alvin Lewis. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, great-granny, sister, and aunt.
Mary adored her three sons, but her passion was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to spoil them so much. She loved going to their ball games, shopping, and going out to eat. She especially loved spending time with her baby sister, Lou. Mary worked for AT&T for 30 years before retiring.
Mary has been reunited in heaven with her husbands, Raymond Hughes and Max Harris; her parents; step-son, Michael Harris; grandchild, Odie Harris; four brothers, Corbert Lewis and his wife Gerthie, Elbert Lewis, Herbert Lewis, and Bill Lewis; sister, Emma Jean Driggers and her husband Dick; and brother-in-law, Boyce Pearson.
Left to cherish Mary's memory are her three sons, Douglas Ayers, Sr. and wife Shanna, John John Hughes, Michael Hughes and his wife Tammy; grandchildren, Amber Ayers Bynog and her husband Shawn, Jennifer Ayers Bossinger and her husband Joe, Buster Ayers, Cassie Ayers Birmingham and her husband Brandon, Bailey Hughes Collins and her husband Chris, and Hayden Hughes; 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; step-children, Sandi Peace and her children Mike, Pam, Katie, Terry Harris and his wife Bridgette, and their child Adam, Ricky Harris and his wife Janis, and their children, Ethan and Josh; sister, Louetta Pearson; sister-in-law, Carolyn Lewis; her beloved dog, Reagan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mary will be held Friday, May 22, 2020, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108.
