Mary Magdalene Free Hooter of Keithville, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the age of 93. Maggie was born February 6, 1929 in Marthaville, Louisiana to Leander and Mary Free.
Maggie lived in Ajax, Louisiana as a child and later moved to Jena, Louisiana where she married E.G. "Dick" Hooter. They later moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where they had two children. Eventually, they moved to Keithville, Louisiana where they lived for over 40 years.
Maggie loved to fish, work in her flower garden, cook for family and friends and decorate her home. She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle where she was involved in the Joy Club. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
She was preceded in death by by her husband, E.G. "Dick" Hooter; parents, Leander Free and Mary Kojis Free; sister, Tish McGee; granddaughters, Catherine and Rebecca Hooter.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Retired Major Richard Hooter and wife JoAnn and James Hooter and wife Cynthia; grandsons, John, Philip, Steven and Paul Hooter; great grandchildren, Braden, Morgan, Joshua, Cameron, Zachary, Mollee and Mason Hooter; great great grandchildren, Catherine and James Hooter; niece, Linda Ford.
A Visitation for Maggie will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will follow at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Park Pavilion. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bill Kincaid. Honoring the family as active pallbearers will be John, Philip, Steven, Morgan, Braden and Mason Hooter and Charlie Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua, Cameron, Paul and Mollee Hooter.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Heritage Manor South for the loving care given to Maggie.
