Matt lost his life to the disease of addiction on Monday, December 7th. A father, son, brother, and friend was taken too soon by the power of alcohol. There are no words to describe the grief we feel for the Matt we knew and loved before addiction took control of him. We will miss the Matt that knew every song that was played, loved Led Zeppelin, and truly appreciated musical artistry. We will miss the Matt that would never miss an LSU or Saints game and passionately cheered for them every season. We will miss the Matt that could dance your socks off and spin you all around the dance floor. We will miss the excited dad and the man who wanted to be a good father. We will miss his charming personality, his intelligence, his distinctive laugh, and his humor. We will miss the Matt that we know was deep down inside that wanted things to be different but could not fight the compulsive nature of this disease. He was so much more than his addiction, and we will choose to always remember the good times. 39 years young is too early to go.
We are heartbroken. We will love you always Matt.
A graveside service to remember the Matt we all loved will be held Thursday, December 17th at 4:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
