Michael Pelekakis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, Pops, and Gramps to everyone’s children, passed away on Thursday May 15, 2019 very unexpectedly. Mike was born February 28, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to Konstantinos and Evangeline Pelekakis. Mike Honorably served his country in the United States Navy for six years serving in Vietnam. Mike was transferred to Shreveport, LA in 1981 from Baltimore, MD, while employed with General Motors. He retired after working for General Motors for 31 years.
He married his best friend and love of his life, Marsha Blakemore Pelekakis, together they enjoyed 42 wonderful years. He was the father of two children, Stacey and Jason Pelekakis; grandfather to Taylor Pelekakis, Skylar Maine, Kaige Maine and Alyssa Pelekakis; father-in-law to Elizabeth Pelekakis; brother to Catherine Pelekakis and Nicholas Pelekakis; uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; and friend to everyone else.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen Pelekakis.
He was the proud owner and operator of Break-N-Run on Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport for the past five and a half years. He loved spending time with his family and extended family either at home, on vacation, or traveling. He really enjoyed riding his Harley on road trips with his friends or just around town. He got addicted to playing pool many years ago and has been playing ever since, rain or shine he’d be there. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and was lucky enough to call him a friend.
A visitation for Mike will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial with an interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring him as pallbearers are Jason Pelekakis, Robert Pelekakis, Nicholas Pelekakis, Anthony Pelekakis, Robert Stalvey, Phil Guin and Kegan Boyd.
