Mike Fitzwater

Michael David Fitzwater, 76, passed away May 9, 2026, at his home in Shreveport, La.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church.

Mike was born May 15, 1949, in El Dorado, Kansas. He has spent a lifetime in education in many roles, but it is clear his true gift was being a teacher of students. The way he loved, guided, and encouraged his students, pointing them toward Jesus was second to none.

At home he loved his family. He was a wonderful father to 4 children- Mikaela, Daniel, David, and Malachi, and he dearly loved his wife, Kelli. He was also a proud grandpa (Pa) to his grandchildren. Mike loved Jesus, his family, the outdoors, fishing, fruit, and any sport his kids were playing.

No words can describe the loss we feel here. We can only imagine the joy he is experiencing now, receiving his promised home and meeting Jesus face to face. He was the best and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his wife Kelli, his daughter Mikaela and her husband Brennan Grant, his sons David and Malachi, he is now reunited with his son Daniel. He is also survived by his mother Gina Dolese, along with Kenny and Vicki Fitzwater, and Ralph and Jimmie Bohannon.
