Modesto Guillen

Modesto Guillén, age 82, entered the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life for God’s glory, and his goal was to serve the Lord until his last day. Modesto was known for his joyful character and grateful approach in life, which endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Modesto was born on February 24, 1943, and raised in Nicaragua where he studied journalism. He came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in the year 2000 after moving to Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Louisiana Baptist University, where he graduated with a degree of Associate of Arts in Biblical Studies at Shreveport, Louisiana on the fourth day of May in the year 2012.

Left to cherish his memory are his precious wife for 43 years, Norma Guillén; his children, Jacqueline De León and husband, Alfonso, Miguel Guillén and wife, Maribel, and Norma Mateo and husband, Olegario; and his eight grandchildren: Jennifer (26), Alfonso (25), Raquel (24), Sophia (20), Rebecca (10), Joshua (18), Leo (7) and Emely (6). Surviving siblings are sister, Vilma and brothers, Ramon, Oscar, and Sabas.

His favorite bible verse was Philippians 4:6-7, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Rest in peace, dear Modesto Guillén. Your memory and your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew you and loved you.

Serving as pallbearers will be Miguel Guillén, Joshua Guillén, Alfonso De León, Alfonso De León Jr., Olegario Mateo, and Ivan Mateo.

Modesto Guillén, de 82 años, entró en la presencia del Señor el miércoles 21 de enero del 2026, en Shreveport, Louisiana, rodeado de su familia. Fue un esposo, padre y abuelo muy amado. Vivió su vida para la gloria de Dios, y su mayor deseo fue servir al Señor hasta su último día. Modesto era conocido por su carácter alegre y su actitud agradecida ante la vida, cualidades que lo hicieron muy querido por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

El nació el 24 de febrero de 1943 en Nicaragua y estudio periodismo. Modesto recibió a Jesucristo como su único Salvador en el año 2000 después de mudarse a Shreveport, Louisiana. Asistió a Louisiana Baptist University, donde se graduó con un título de Asociado en Artes en Estudios Bíblicos en la ciudad de Shreveport, Louisiana, el cuatro de mayo del año 2012.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa con quien compartió su vida por 43 años, Norma Maria Guillén; sus hijos, Jacqueline De León y su esposo, Alfonso, Miguel Guillén, y su esposa, Maribel, y su hija Norma Mateo y su esposo, Olegario; y nietos Jennifer (26), Alfonso (25), Raquel (24), Sophia (20), Rebecca (10), Joshua (18), Leo (7) y Emely (6). También le sobreviven su hermana Vilma y sus hermanos Ramón, Oscar y Sabas.

Su versículo bíblico favorito era Filipenses 4:6–7: “Por nada estéis afanosos, sino sean conocidas vuestras peticiones delante de Dios en toda oración y ruego, con acción de gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará vuestros corazones y vuestros pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.”

Descansa en paz, querido Modesto Guillén. Tu recuerdo y tu legado vivirán en los corazones de quienes te conocieron y te amaron.

Servirán como portadores del féretro Miguel Guillén, Joshua Guillén, Alfonso De León, Alfonso De León Jr., Olegario Mateo e Iván Mateo.
