Oletha Washington Brown

Oletha Washington Brown, was born November 2, 1933 in Desoto Parish, Louisiana. She was the first child born to the late Jessie Brown and Joe Allen Washington Sr. Sister Brown gained her wings on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 peacefully at home.

Oletha was united in marriage to the late Lonnie Brown Sr. in 1948. To this union seven children were born.

She joined the Flowerhill BC at an early age where she gave her life to christ. Oletha loved her church family at Bright Star BC where she was a dedicated usher and on the hospitality committee, under the leadership of Rev. C.L. Washington. She served faithfully until she was physically unable to do so.

On April 30, 2025, Oletha departed this life at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one daughter, and two grandchildren.

Oletha leaves to cherish her memories, 5 children, Clinton Brown Sr, Cheryl Bowden (Otis Bowden), Lonnie Brown Jr,(Vasana Lupton-Brown), Paula “Dina” Walker, and LaTunia Brown. 1 sister, Vera Johnson, and 1 brother Joe Washington Jr. (Jessica Washington). 13 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 1 ½ great great grandchildren, and 2 God grandchildren. Her memories will also be cherished by a special daughter, Elizabeth Cece Cord, a bonus son, Otis Wesley Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A visitation for Oletha will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Oletha will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
